Throngs of tourists flock to Ocean City each summer to enjoy the famous Ocean City Boardwalk, which stretches from 1st Street to 23rd Street. Though the boardwalk is accessible year-round, summer is the time to visit. From Memorial Day to Labor Day the boardwalk is bustling with a variety of people and activities. Parents and children alike enjoy numerous theme and amusement parks, miniature golf courses, specialty shops, famous eateries and candy stores, video game arcades, movie theaters, book stores and the salty ocean air that is so enticing during the summer.
In contrast to the Atlantic City Boardwalk, the two-mile-long strip of two-by-fours in Ocean City is much more family friendly. Where Atlantic City has casinos, Ocean City features amusement rides and arcades. Moreover, Ocean City is a dry town; so if you're looking to party, don't bother with this town.
Despite the city's ban on selling alcohol, the Ocean City boardwalk has some inviting attractions. For instance, it is home to one of the most famous pizzerias in southern New Jersey---Mack and Manco's Pizza. Sampling a slice here is an absolute must. Don't forget about the funnel cake and the Johnson's Caramel Popcorn, also renowned Ocean City cuisine. Gillian's arcade has been a fixture on the boardwalk for decades, delighting locals and visitors alike with a variety of arcade games. And the Wonderland Pier offers a cluster of different amusement rides and rollercoasters, most of which is geared towards children.
