The Tropicana Casino Resort is constantly re-inventing itself. Last year the Trop totally re-vamped its Boardwalk level and created the Marketplace, a nice collection of eateries and shops. Now it has opened the Quarter, an Old Havana-themed entertainment complex that is the toast of the town. These changes are sure to attract a younger and more affluent clientele to the casino. There already seems to be a greater number of younger patrons in the casino where at one time it was almost exclusively populated with older slot players. The Tropicana has always been a favorite with mid-level gamblers. Though most highrollers will find the table-betting limits too low, the average player may find it a relief. Gaming takes place in an attractive 124,000-square-foot gaming hall, divided into smaller sub-gaming areas. Table games include Blackjack, Roulette, Baccarat, Mini-Baccarat, Craps, Pai Gow, Sic Bo, Poker, Keno, and Simulcast. Non-smoking tables are also available. The casino's Poker Room is notable, as a specially designed photo identification system is used to ensure that players receive the "comps" due them. Slot machine denominations range from 5 cents to $100. The Trop is home to the luxurious Crystal Room, a slot area with more than 80 slot machines in denominations ranging from $2 - $100. The Crystal Room features crystal chandeliers, vaulted ceilings and vibrating high-back slot chairs. The Tropicana's Showroom is Atlantic City's first $1 million, Broadway-style-seating theater. All seats face forward and the aisles are wide and easily accessible to avoid crowding and obstructed views. Visitors are afforded the opportunity to select a preferred seat in advance. One of the great entertainment landmarks in Atlantic City is the Comedy Stop. Now located in the Quarter, this comedy club has brought nationally known performers to Atlantic City for over twenty years. Also located in the Quarter is Tropicana's IMAX theater, the only one of its kind in Atlantic City.
