Chef Jason Hanin, a graduate of the Culinary Institute of America, presents some outstanding seafood dishes at Dune Restaurant in Margate. The decor of the dining room and the food itself reflect an interesting combination of local and Asian influences. Entrees are crafted from complimentary flavors, textures, and visual presentations that take flounder and sea bass to wonderful new levels. The service, though pleasant, is a bit inconsistent and can be improved. Call ahead for reservations, the small dining room can fill up quickly and lead to long wait-times. Dune is located one block from Margate's landmark "Lucy the Elephant" and the beach. Entrees are about $25. Open year round, BYOB.
The seafood experience is on par with the best of any city. I recommend the calimari apetizer (light and tasty); and I have a weak spot for the warm chocolate cake desert. I have yet to have anything sort of a superb meal there.
The dining room is small...worth arriving on time.
