Day:
Atlantic
CIty
For visitors who
have a bit more time to spend in this area, the options are
plentiful. An excellent
choice for any one of the three days is still our suggested one-day
guide.
Visitors who have
three days in town will surely want to visit nearby Ocean City.
This is a particularly fantastic place for those with
children, or for those who just consider
themselves young at
heart. A great way to
spend a morning in Ocean City is to rent bicycles from any one of a
number of places right on the boardwalk. Ove’s on 4th Street is usually a good bet when
looking for bike rentals. There
are gorgeous areas throughout Ocean City, but we recommend pedaling
to the north end of the city and checking out the homes in the
Garden section. You won’t be disappointed. Once you return your
bikes, you will be on the boardwalk. This is an excellent place for
lunch as the choices are abundant.
Afterwards, spend
the afternoon shopping on the boardwalk or unwinding on the beach
just below. Ocean City
has block after block of nice beaches for everyone to enjoy.
If you are not a big shopper, and you forgot your bathing
suit, you might want to head to Gillian’s Wonderland Pier.
Here, you can satisfy your wild side on one of their many
rides, eat cotton candy, or take in a round of miniature golf.
Whatever your pleasure, Ocean City probably has it.
Outdoorsmen and
anglers from miles around come to Atlantic City to fish both close
to the shore and out on the sea.
Blue Water Adventures offers daily fishing expeditions that
will take you out to where the fish are biting. The 47’ Miss
Atlantic City holds up to 30 passengers, and all rods, bait, and
tackle are supplied. Upon
your return to land, a meal may be in order.
Again, see our Dining section for a bevy of choices.
Depending on the
season, there may be a minor league baseball game in town at
Sandcastle Stadium on Albany Avenue. If the Surf is in town, it is
well worth the time and money. Unlike most professional sporting
events, $15.00 will get you a ticket, a hot dog and a beer.
For those looking
to hit a sports bar after the game, walk right across the street to
the Home Run Tavern where you can enjoy a game of pool or catch the
latest scores.
